The consultation begins with a detailed discussion (medical history) about your symptoms and family background, followed by a physical examination, which includes:

• Inspection and palpation of the joints
• Checking for swelling, redness, or restricted movement
• Assessment of muscle strength and flexibility
• Examination of the spine, if necessary

If needed, the rheumatologist may order additional tests such as laboratory analyses, imaging studies (X-ray, MRI, or joint ultrasound).
