A physical examination follows, including evaluation of the skin, mucous membranes, nose, throat, and lungs.

If needed, additional diagnostic tests may be recommended:

• Skin prick tests (for reactions to pollen, dust mites, foods, etc.)
• Blood tests for specific IgE antibodies
• Pulmonary function tests

Finally, the allergist reviews the results and creates a personalized treatment plan — medications, allergen-specific immunotherapy, or lifestyle modifications.
For chronic conditions, a follow-up and prevention strategy is arranged.
